Interbrand has hired Fura Jóhannesdóttir, global chief creative officer at Huge, in the same role.
Jóhannesdóttir, who worked at Huge for four years, joined Interbrand this week. Based in London, she will report to Interbrand’s global chief executive, Gonzalo Brujó and be part of the agency’s global executive leadership team.
Brujó said: “I am delighted to welcome Fura to Interbrand – to accelerate our creative leadership at the most senior levels of our business around the world. In 2024, we have experienced significant success across our creative endeavours around the world – recognised with more than 65 prestigious award wins around the world.
“Fura’s deep understanding of the role that creativity and creative leadership plays in driving value for world-leading brands will be critical as Interbrand steps into our next phase of growth.”
Jóhannesdóttir is responsible for leading Interbrand’s global creative community at a “moment of critical and significant growth” for the agency, it said. She will oversee design, experience and digital divisions across the Americas, EMEA and Asia.
At Huge, Jóhannesdóttir led a global rebrand of the agency. Previously she worked at Publicis Sapient. She also served as a trustee for D&AD for four years from 2019, and held roles at R/GA between 2005 and 2017, including as regional executive creative director, group executive creative director and interaction design director.
Interbrand said Jóhannesdóttir has “extensive experience in brand excellence”, with a career spanning more than two and a half decades, and has led innovative global programmes for brands including Volvo, Walmart and Google.
Jóhannesdóttir’s appointment follows the promotion at Interbrand of Emma Ellis from managing director to president, to succeed Christian Purser, in May last year.
Jóhannesdóttir added: “I am thrilled to be stepping into this exciting role at Interbrand during such a critical moment in the firm’s global evolution. For fifty years, Interbrand has been defining the branding category and I am honoured to be playing this role in shaping the next 50 years.
“Interbrand collaborates every day with a truly impressive range of world-class brands – and I am so excited about the potential and opportunities of working with these brand leaders and our excellent creative teams around the world, to imagine where we can take things next.”
