Snap’s European head of creative strategy David Norris is leaving to join conversational AI platform Boost AI.
Norris, who spent eight years at the tech company, which owns photo messaging app Snapchat, will depart next week.
He joined Snap as a creative strategist in 2017 and was promoted to his most recent role five years ago. Norris reported to Valentina Culatti, director EMEA creative strategy and global production.
Writing on LinkedIn, Norris said “it’s tough to walk away” from Snap, but “sometimes you need to make a change, and make the decision to play a different hand”.
He said: “I've never felt more a part of a company than I have at Snap, and that is mainly down to the people that have worked through the chaos of a young and expanding tech company with me.”
Norris will become chief marketing officer at Boost AI, which was founded in Norway in 2016. He will take up his new role at the company on 20 January.
During his time at Snapchat, Norris hired the company’s first planner to help brands understand the behaviour change within augmented reality, the role of Snap and its audience engagement. He led the company in partnering Dentsu to launch Catalyst, a specialist offering to create immersive brand experiences.
Norris has two decades’ experience in media. Before Snap, he was at TBWA\Media Arts Lab, where he was EMEIA communications planning director. In addition, he has worked at Mindshare and ZenithOptimedia Group in strategy and account director roles.
Snap declined to comment on Norris' departure or replacement.
